It’s Christmas time once again, and we have run our first weekend of Santa’s Holiday Express and Polar Express trains to the delight of many children of all ages! There was one young man in the crowd who was wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine hat as he was re-boarding the train at the North Pole; he gave me a big ‘high five’ as he got on the train along with a gigantic smile! This is what it’s all about this time of year: making people happy!
I want to take a minute to recognize all of our crew from the fine people who take the reservations and sell the tickets to the gift shop staff and the buildings and grounds people. There is also the track crew who work hard in all kinds of weather and the shop crew who go under, in and on top of all our equipment to keep things in great shape. And let’s not forget the operating crews and the other on board staff (narrators and snack bar attendants) who work long hours to bring you an enjoyable experience at our railroad. Thanks also to our front line supervisors and the marketing staff! We also work with some excellent contractors, and I am particularly thinking of the staff from Attitash who work really hard to bring you a first class dining experience. You are all wonderful people, and it’s my privilege to be able to work with you.
Don’t forget that 7470’s last run (for a couple of years) is on January 3, 2015, for the eighth annual Steam in the Snow excursion, sponsored by the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts. The event is just about sold out (only 22 tickets left as of December 1st), so if you plan to participate in this event, get your tickets now.
From the whole crew at Conway Scenic to your crew, we hope that you have a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years!
Keep it Safe,
