Thomas the Tank Engine has come and gone now until next year. We ran 54 round trip trains with our little blue friend over the course of two weekends, and a good time was had by all!
We have settled in to our regular schedule of trains. We offer at least 5 departures every day with two additional departures on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The two additional trains are our 11:00am departure to Crawford Notch and our 6pm dinner trains to Bartlett. Our full schedule plus a listing of special events is available on our website ConwayScenic.com.
We have just moved steam locomotive #7470 from stall 3 in the roundhouse over to stall #1 where we are getting ready for her annual hydrostatic boiler test. We also have periodic air brake work and other yearly and monthly maintenance items to do as well. As in years past the plan is to run the locomotive from mid-September (in this case the first day of Railfans’ weekend which is 9-14) through the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, which is October 13th this year. Then the locomotive will be out for the 7th annual STEAM in THE SNOW train on January 4th.
That’s all I have for this month. As always, we thank you for your interest in and support of the Conway Scenic Railroad!
Keep it Safe!
